Because this is handmade, there may be some imperfection (though we prefer to call it “character”.) You might also notice asymmetry in the design (some scholars believe this is because Syrian embroiderers are superstitious and deliberately avoid symmetry to protect the wearer from the evil eye.) Syrian cross-stitch is an endangered practice, and pieces like this are incredibly scarce. We ask that if you do adopt this special jacket, that you treat it with love, care, and gentleness. It has traveled a long way from its home!
