From Syria to the world...
Ghabani started as a passion project during my master’s research on preserving Syria’s cultural heritage. While wandering through the souks of Damascus, I was captivated by the rich textures, colors, and stories woven into traditional Syrian garments. I began collecting pieces, drawn to their beauty and historical meaning. I quickly learned that realized many of these garments were no longer being made. That’s when I started digitizing fabrics and patterns—determined to preserve this incredible part of Syria’s identity.
I began sharing these pieces on TikTok, never expecting the response I got. People were amazed—especially fellow Syrians in the diaspora, many of whom had never seen a traditional dress before. It became clear there was a huge gap in cultural knowledge, and I felt compelled to do my part in raising awareness about our rich traditions.
In 2022, I co-founded Ghabani with my family in Damascus. Our goal is simple: to celebrate and support in reviving Syria’s rich history of traditional clothing. We work closely with multi-generational family businesses in Damascus and its suburbs, sourcing garments and fabrics ethically and with care.

Our dream is to help breathe life back into Syria’s textile industry by supporting the revival of extinct garments, accessories, and techniques. What started as a collection of vintage pieces has now grown into something bigger—we’re beginning to design our own in-house collections, inspired by tradition and shaped by a vision for the future.
