The Ghabani Vest

This chic vest is made from upcycled damascene tapestries in two stunning color ways. The vest is fully lined with black satin, features pockets, delicate gold buttons, and a waist belt so it can be cinched in the back.

Because this is handmade, there may be some imperfection (though we prefer to call it “character”.) You might also notice asymmetry in the design (some scholars believe this is because Syrian embroiderers are superstitious and deliberately avoid symmetry to protect the wearer from the evil eye.) Syrian cross-stitch is an endangered practice, and pieces like this are incredibly rare. We ask that if you do adopt this special dress, that you treat it with love, care, and gentleness. It has traveled a long way from its home!
