The Ghabani Jacket

This chic Damascus jacket features festive Ghabani floral embroidery in shades of silver, orange, green, burgundy, and blue on black chiffon. The jacket is fully lined with a contrasting burgundy fabric.

Because this is handmade, there may be some imperfection (though we prefer to call it “character”.) You might also notice asymmetry in the design (some scholars believe this is because Syrian embroiderers are superstitious and deliberately avoid symmetry to protect the wearer from the evil eye.) Syrian cross-stitch is an endangered practice, and pieces like this are incredibly rare. We ask that if you do adopt this special dress, that you treat it with love, care, and gentleness. It has traveled a long way from its home!
